The Grade II-listed brick Viaduct and Swing Bridge once brought trains to meet the ferries; a new landscaped linear park and walkway now follows the tracks to connect the town to the harbour. This project has been assisted by a grant from the Regional Growth Fund, with support from the South East Local Enterprise Partnership, Kent County Council and Shepway District Council.

Lighting designed by One Eighty Light in collaboration with McFarlane Associates and acme Architects, incorporated concealed recessed linear LED luminaires in the swing bridge, and cortex steel bollards for the viaduct, to reinforce the materiality of the railway lines.
